Have you been to South Dakota? I had not and seeing Mt. Rushmore was on my bucket list. I spent the last seven days visiting part of the US that were brand new for me!

The Bad Lands were so much more than I expected. Miles and miles of incredible formations. In addition we saw buffalo, antelope, zillions of prairie dogs and a mountain goat.
Crazy Horse wasn’t what I expected–awesome but I thought he was closer to being finished. Learned so much here. (Trips make me realize there is sooo much I don’t know!)

We rode a steam train through the trees and later visited a gold mine. It was good to be in the trees –almost able to touch them.

Actually seeing Mr. Rushmore was the highlight for me. Just Wow
Kevin Costner’s larger than life bronze depiction of a buffalo hunt and a round up of buffalo at Custer State Park with living, breathing buffalo was a then and now experience.

We filled every day with new experiences–but it was good to be back home–our bed and our dog!!
While I was gone, Quilters at First were busy at their machines.

Elaine finished her autumn table runner. The 16″ x 36″ table runner is machine quilted with an oak leaf and acorn pattern, perfect for fall. The border is pieced and the pumpkins and leaves are machine appliquéd. $45
